Making frequent trips to the washroom is not exactly an ideal situation you’d want to be in. You know this scenario way too well when you’re suffering from diarrhea. Diarrhea is marked by loose and watery stools which are quite frequent. This happens when our digestive system is not able to absorb water properly. The food is not digested properly. Ayurveda call this problem - Atisaar. The Ayurveda approach suggests that there is an imbalance in a particular dosha which results in diarrhea. Diarrhea relating to an imbalance in Vata dosha shows symptoms like loose motions accompanied by pain and gas. The Pitta type diarrhea is marked by a burning sensation in the anus and a foul odour. The Kapha type imbalance may result in nausea, sticky stool and fatigue. Diarrhea is known to be caused due to the accumulation of ama (the toxic waste left from the digestion process). During diarrhea, the digestive fire is not up to the mark as it is weak. There are many causes of diarrhea.
