In earlier times, people used to carry heavy loads over their back or had to do strenuous physical activities to earn some penny, now they sit for long hours before computer to get salary. No wonder, back pain has always been a major problem. People lying between the age-group of 45-60 are more prone to it. Back pain is also very common in pregnancy. Generally, women suffer from low bone density and that is why, back pain is more common amongst women than men. Back Pain Causes Poor sitting posture, spinal cord infection, injury, spinal disc problem, lack of exercise or obesity may be the reasons behind back pain. Ayurvedic texts describes back pain as Nitambha Shoola and defines vitiated vata dosha to be the cause of backache. It leads to poor digestion and hence toxic substances are released into the blood stream. The toxic substances, if accumulate around spine, lead to back pain. Back Pain Symptoms and Impact Back pain seriously affects your capability to sit for long hours and snatches the flexibility. The intensity of pain may range from mild to severe. Low back pain may be an underlying symptom of diseases like osteoporosis, scoliosis, spinal stenosis etc. So don’t ignore it and also do not try to combat it with pain killers. Do seek a doctor’s advice once.
