Engagement Ceremony A Hindu Bong wedding can’t take place between the couples of same gotra. For this purpose, a priest is consulted. Then the groom’s family reaches bride’s family to fix the marriage date. This ritual is known as Paka-Dekha. This is followed by Ashirbaad (blessing) ceremony wherein elders of both the families bless the bride and groom with husk rice and trefoil. Bride and groom’s family then exchange presents and sweets and officially announce the wedding.
